Memorial Celebration & more desert blooms

HAPPY Memorial day! a big THANK YOU to all those who serve our country!! HUGS! :)
i hope you are having a GREAT day, filled with LOTS of yummy foods and parades!
we are having a quiet one at home. Saturday was our little parade and celebration. we went to Grubstakes day and hoped to pan for gold but by the time we got there, they had left already.
not really sure why either, i mean, i know it was windy as all heck but i would think gold miners could handle it! (shrugs shoulders) here are some photos from our little celebration!
this is the EXPENSIVE food stand.
Photobucket
as we are heading in, we already passed the soft ball game that was going on.
Photobucket
this jacuzzi/pool stand was the most popular! lol
Photobucket
a belly dance stand, had BEAUTIFUL coin scarves like i got a few weeks ago, their 'bargain price' was 2 for $25.00!! we got 2 for $10. at the swapmeet! hehe
Photobucket
check out this sad little dunk tank! lol it didn't even work, as we stood there, we saw the guy hit the target TWICE and nothing happened, so some little boy wandered over to the target and pushed it!! LOL my DS thinks it's the same dunk tank that Walmart uses, he remembers being in it!! i would have LOVEd to see THAT! lol
Photobucket
i am not sure if you can see the one stand in the background, it's a tropical/luau stand and all these little grass skirts were about to fly away they were blowing in the wind so hard!
Photobucket
of course there was a local band there too!
Photobucket
As we left the park, we saw this little ranger car and i just had to take a picture of it!
Just compare the size to the picnic table next to it! LOL
Photobucket
Sad that our celebrations have dwindled down to mostly fun for little kids. but there you have it! :)
Here are some more of our local blooms to finish off this post!
the most spikey plant, has the most delicate flower.

yellow flower bush

i would LOVE to know what ALL the plants are but these are particularly special! Just check out how papery they look!!
Photobucket
BEAUTIFUL, huh?
Photobucket
These are spotted throughout the desert and the blooms just POP!!
Photobucket
Flowers of almost EVERY color, like these Orange flowers.
Photobucket
and deep purple too.
Photobucket
And even tiny little yellow ones!

I just love to see brightly colored flowers popping out of a bed of rocks! They just look so encouraging (if they can survive those conditions, then I can survive what life throws at me!). Thanks for sharing these pretty flowers. laurie

Shirley, those papery blooms are buttercups! They also call them "primroses" here but I don't think that's right!!!

WOW. The WIND! I know how it is. It usually overturns a few booths at our little crafts fairs here. Always shows up when not wanted, too!

Well, at least you did something out there. My husband was napping and my son was not up all day so I just had a really quiet day making earrings and letting the dogs IN and OUT of the backdoor CONSTANTLY, they could NOT make up their tiny doggie minds!

Wow, your day really looked like fun. All those stands and good weather too.
Love the blooming cactus.

I thought that little truck was really funny. Someone actually drives it?!

Loved the pictures..those little papery lavender and white with the yellow centers pop up in the woods here..or some that look just like them..they grown low along the ground..That little truck was cute..reminded me of when my GS'S were little, their dad's mother and dad got them one of those motorized red jeeps..they lived in the country and back off the road a good way..one day she caught Josh almost at the main road..she said what are you doing way down here..he replied.."I'm going home",home being about 35 miles from there..LOL
