Good Morning!

Hello, my bloggie friends :D it's another bright and sunny day here and maybe i will get a fourth load of wash done this week. hehe i am still gargling and taking vitamin C and not really sure just how long i need to do this or if the cold will surface anyway or not! (shrugs shoulders) lol oh well, couldn't hurt to keep it up awhile yet, i suppose! i also installed Picasa organizer so i can find some hope in getting to know ALLLLL i got saved lol what a job, getting it all lablelled! WHEW! so that's where i have been this week :D

With my WONDERFUL emails, i have more fun info to share (Thank you, Kathy!!)WOOHOO!

Did You Know?
* Take bananas apart when you get home from the market. If you leave them connected at the stem, they ripen faster.

* Primates peel a banana from the bottom and don't have to pick any strings off.

* Peppers with 3 bumps on the bottom are sweeter and better for eating, and peppers with 4 bumps on the bottom are firmer and better for cooking.

* Add a teaspoon of water in the pan when frying ground beef to pull the grease away from the meat while cooking.

* If making brownies as a treat, make them as directed on the recipe, and then add melted chocolate mints, pouring them over the warm brownies. Let them set for a wonderful minty frosting with less saturated fat and food chemicals found in many packaged frostings.

* If you want a light taste of garlic in a recipe, add garlic immediately as you cook, but if you want a stronger taste of garlic, add it at the end of the recipe.

* To reheat pizza with a crispy crust, heat the slices in a skillet on the stovetop at med-low temperature, and heat until warm.

* Deviled eggs can be made easier by placing the cooked egg yolks in a zip lock baggie. Seal and mash until the yolks are broken up. Add the remainder of your ingredients to the yolk in the baggie, reseal, and continue mashing. Cut the tip of the baggie and squeeze the yolk mixture into the egg white. Throw the baggie away when done for easy clean up.

* If you ever purchase a container of cake frosting (but I do not personally recommend it), whip it with a mixer for a few minutes to double its volume. This lessens the refined ingredients and dilutes the calories per serving.

* When reheating refrigerated bread, biscuits, pancakes, or muffins, heat them next to a cup of water. The moisture will keep the food moist and help it reheat faster.

* If you break glass in the kitchen, use a wet cotton ball or Q-tip to pick up the small shards of glass and those you can't easily see.

* Keep squirrels away from the house garden with cayenne pepper. The cayenne pepper won't hurt the grass or plants, and squirrels won't come near it.

* To retrieve something from under the refrigerator, add an empty paper towel roll or empty gift-wrap roll to your vacuum hose.

* Before you pour sticky substances such as peanut butter into a measuring cup, fill the cup with hot water. Empty the hot water, but don't dry the cup. Now the sticky ingredient can easily come out.

* To get rid of pesky fruit flies in the house, fill a small glass half full with Apple Cider Vinegar and 2 drops of dish washing liquid. The insects are drawn to the cup and drown.

i just LOVE learning things like these, don't you??! :D
if you like that, then i hope you will enjoy this too! it's suppose to REALLY work! hehe
Mosquito spray.....

I can't wait to try this in the summer!

I was at a deck party awhile back, and the bugs were having a ball biting everyone.
A man at the party sprayed the lawn and deck floor with Listerine, and the little demons disappeared.

The next year I filled a 4-ounce spray bottle and used it around my seat whenever I
saw mosquitoes. And voila! That worked as well. It worked at a picnic where we
sprayed the area around the food table, the children's swing area, and the standing
water nearby.
During the summer, I don't leave home without it.....Pass it on.
------------------
OUR FRIEND'S COMMENTS:
I tried this on my deck and around all of my doors. It works - in fact, it killed them instantly.
I bought my bottle from Target and it cost me $1.89. It really doesn't take much, and it is a
big bottle, too; so it is not as expensive to use as the can of spray you buy that doesn't last
30 minutes. So, try this, please. It will last a couple of days. Don't spray directly on a wood
door (like your front door), but spray around the frame. Spray around the window frames,
and even inside the dog house.

i am sure i will be trying this out this year lol FUN KNOWLEDGE!!
ok well, i don't use a cell phone but i know ALOT of you do, so i will share this for YOU :D
Something to think about & maybe make a change?

Be careful how you list names on your cell phone! This lady has changed her habit of how she lists her names on Her mobile phone after her handbag was stolen. Her handbag which contained her cell phone, credit card, wallet, etc. was stolen. 20 minutes later when she called her Husband from a pay phone telling him what had happened, hubby says 'I received your text asking about our Pin number and I've replied a little while ago.' When they rushed down to the bank, the bank staff told them all the money was already withdrawn.

The thief had actually used the stolen cell phone to text 'hubby' in the contact list and got hold of the PIN number. Within 20 minutes he had withdrawn all the money from the bank account.

Moral of the lesson: Do not disclose the relationship between you and the people in your contact list.
Avoid using names like Home, Honey, Hubby, Sweetheart, Dad, Mom, etc.

And very importantly, when sensitive info is being asked thru texts, CONFIRM by calling back. Also, when you're being texted by friends or family to meet them somewhere, be sure to call back to confirm that the message came from them. If you don't reach them, be very careful about going places to meet 'family and friends' who text you.

They could be setting you up to be burglarized, or worse. PLEASE PASS THIS ON.
and one last thing:

Sorry for not being here

i have been in a funk and now as i feel better, in THAT way (or at least, working on it lol) NOW i feel like i am coming down with a cold UGH!! you know that silly little tickle in the throat and the feeling in the chest, oh and that feeling in the head, just before a fever? UGHH!! my sister says to gargle with salt water (BLECH!) but i will try it and hope it helps!!
i just got done reading a silly book called Cheap Psychological Tricks by Perry W. Buffington, Ph.D. (got free from the swapmeet lol) and one of the last chapters talks about love. something interesting i thought worth sharing :D
"Research shows that affectionate actions-in fact, love in general-improve the effectiveness of the immune system. When a person is falling in love, the body produces an amphetaminelike compound called phenytethylamines and releases them into the brain."
So if you have no one, in particular, to love, then pick something like a plant or pet, it will produce the same results, love is love!!
well, today was the last storm of our 3 storm system, week long rains and as bad as it was suppose to be, it turned out pretty nice but horribly windy! we saw THREE different rainbows,i didn't get great pictures of all three rainbows, since the camera chose to focus on the rain that was spritzed on the windshield, instead of THROUGH the window lol but here are some pictures of this morning's trip down the mountain and back.
Photobucket
Photobucket
oh scary clouds
Photobucket
Can you see the rainbow here? lol(pic above)

Cool huh? Then after we got home, DH finds a Kangaroo rat in the yard, just snoozing, til it awoke, saw me taking pictures of it and wanted to be friendly LOL
it came right over to us and DH gave it a leaf to eat lol Want to see it?
Photobucket
Photobucket
Surprisingly cute, i thought lol
Last thing i wanted to share today is something we saw on tv today, on the Science channel... a show called Invention Nation. was pretty cool. they introduced us to homes in New Mexico, called Earthship homes and they are completely self sustaining!!!! EVEN watering the plants, inside AND out!!! lol VERRRYYY GREEN (planet friendly)!! Here's another link to check out the AWESOME homes! They may not be perfect YET but we are sure on the way! And they maybe nothing much to look out, on the outside, but they look so nice inside AND these homes catche the rain water, feeds it to the home, reuses some of the house water, has solar powered hot water tanks, sky lites (over the tub, i bet that would be so soothing), oh it has it ALL! lol i do hope you have the time to check it out!

You know you're a scrapper when.....

You set your heater to 'LOW' and see 'LO' and think 'layout' LOL
i bet you all have your own "You know you're a scrapper when" stories too! i would LOVE to hear them!! Wouldn't it be FUN if this started a new trend, like Jeff Foxworthy's "You know you're a redneck... " LOL C'mon, girls, we can do it! lol i just had to laugh when i caught myself thinking that. and the only reason it happened now is because i finally got real glasses, i can finally see!!!! lol
oh and i've got a secret hehe
well, i can share it with you ;)

The Secret

One day, one friend asked another,

"How is it that you are always so happy?

You have so much energy,

and you never seem to get down."

With her eyes smiling, she said,

"I know the Secret!"

"What secret is that?"

To which she replied,

"I'll tell you all about it,

but you have to promise to

share the Secret with others."

"The Secret is this:

I have learned there is little I can do

in my life that will make me truly happy.

I must depend on God to make

me happy and to meet my needs.

When a need arises in my life.

I have to trust God to supply

according to HIS riches.

I have learned most of the time

I don't need half of what I think I do.

He has never let me down.

Since I learned that 'Secret', I am happy."

The questioner's first thought was,

"That's too simple!"

But upon reflecting over her own life

she recalled how she thought a bigger house

would make her happy, but it didn't!

She thought a better paying job

would make her happy, but it hadn't.

When did she realize her greatest happiness?

Sitting on the floor with her grandchildren,

playing games, eating pizza or reading a story,

a simple gift from God.

Now you know it too!

We can't depend on people to make us happy.

Only GOD in His infinite wisdom can do that.

Trust HIM!

And now I pass the Secret on to you!

So once you get it, what will you do?

YOU have to tell someone the Secret, too!

That GOD in His wisdom will take care of YOU!

But it's not really a secret...

We just have to believe it and do it...

Really trust God!
i would bet, that is a secret you knew hehe

and one more called
Tequila and Salt
This should probably be taped to your bathroom mirror
where one could read it every day.
You may not realize it, but it's 100% true.

1. There are at least two people in this world
that you would die for.

2. At least 15 people in this world
love you in some way.

3. The only reason anyone would ever hate you
is because they want to be just like you.

4. A smile from you can bring happiness to anyone,
even if they don't like you.

5. Every night, SOMEONE thinks about you
before they go to sleep.

6. You mean the world to someone.

7. You are special and unique.

8. Someone that you don't even know exists loves you.

9. When you make the biggest mistake ever,
something good comes from it.

10. When you think the world has turned its back on you
take another look.

11. Always remember the compliments you received.
Forget about the rude remarks.

So.........
If you are a loving friend,
send this to everyone.
If you get it back, then they really do love you.

And always remember....
when life hands you Lemons,
ask for Tequila and Salt and call me over!

Good friends are like stars.
You don't always see them,
But you know they are always there.

"Whenever God Closes One Door He Always Opens Another, Even Though
Sometimes It's Hell in the Hallway"

I would rather have one rose and a kind word
from a friend while I'm here
than a whole truckload when I'm gone.

Forward to all your friends.
And don't tell me you're too busy for this..
Don't you know the phrase
"stop and smell the flowers"?
See how many "bouquets" you end up with!

Happiness keeps You Sweet,
Trials keep You Strong,
Sorrows keep You Human,
Failures keep You Humble,
Success keeps You Glowing,
But Only God keeps You Going and May God Bless You and Yours
Thank you so very much for sharing this time and now i am off to see what you share on your blogs :D Have a WONDERFUL day as i make it thru my off and on rainy day lol

once in a while there is an opportunity to take in a piece of nature that you may never see. in these days of unrest an turmoil it is great to see that mother nature can still produce some wondrous beauty.
the odds of seeing an albino moose are astronomical, and to see this in the upper peninsula of michigan, near wisconsin, is even greater than astronomical. to see two of them together is nearly impossible.
we wanted to share these photos with as many people as possible because you will probably never have a chance to see this rare sight again. this is a really special treat, so enjoy the shot of a lifetime.
Cool, huh? i sure hope you found that as cool as i do! i also found out there will be a TOTAL eclipse of the moon in two days! WOOHOO! lol
you can check it out here and please don't forget to check out the solar eclipses too!! but please view them safely!!!!!

Don't want to forget

Since it IS Valentine's day, what better day to share this information?!!
Since many people are alone when they suffer a heart attack,
this article seemed to be in order. Without help, the person
whose heart is beating improperly and who begins to feel faint,
has only about 10 seconds left before losing consciousness.
However, these victims can help themselves by coughing repeatedly and very vigorously. A deep breath should be taken before each cough, and the cough must be deep and prolonged, as when producing sputum from deep inside the chest. A breath and a cough must be repeated about very two seconds without let up until help arrives, or until the heart is felt to be beating normally again.
Deep breaths get oxygen into the lungs and coughing movements squeeze the heart and keep the blood circulating. The squeezing pressure on the heart also helps it regain normal rhythm. In this way, heart attack victims can get to a hospital. Tell as many other people as possible about this, it could save their lives!

Wow! i just realized that i have been blogging here now since 12-12-06!! Can you believe it? lol sheesh!! it's been a long and WONDERFUL trip!! hehe
Thank you so verry verry much for all your warm concerns to my day on monday. it was certainly not one of my best days but like i said, i truly believe that since we could not make the decision to offer charly another home, GOD made it for us.
Well, i would love to know how your weather is this time of year? today it is snowing like crazy over in Big Bear, which isn't far from here. it was blowing horizonally this morning and just a few minutes ago, on tv, they showed another live shot and it was almost a white out!! and it sure is affecting our sunshine here lol, it's been trying to peer out all morning but the clouds are to thick and too many! just hope it DOESN'T snow here lol oh well, i guess a little wouldn't be too bad, Coco has never seen it yet!lol
i hope you are enjoying Dark Moods and i apologize for not sharing sooner but sometimes these kits just get away on me lol please share with me, if you make a layout because i would LOVE to see!!

sorry for delay & freebie

First, Thank you all so much for your fantastic responses to my last goodie! i had 221 downloads and OVER 35 WONDERFUL comments! Thank you, they truly are what keeps me going here!
Second, please allow me to apologize for my delay in posting, but i have been out of sorts since we had to take our Charly to a no kill shelter on monday.
it was a beautiful day, so i had wash hanging outside & when taking the wash down, i took all the dogs out with me, nothing unusual there. but suddenly, by my feet, with wash over my shoulder and a handful of clothespins, my Charly attacks Coco!! FOR NO apparent reason and clearly out of the blue! i yell and he didn't stop. i yell again and nothing, so i dive onto Coco to protect the little guy and Charly pulls him out from under me!! i dive again, over Coco onto my elbows and knees, so i don't crush him and Charly pulls him out from my protective cover AGAIN! this whole time i am yelling for charly to stop & by now i have to do something, so i picked up coco and stood, now trying to go for the front door. charly is still coming after JUST coco and pulls him OUT FROM my arms now! i pick up my baby, not knowing how badly he is injured yet and now my female wants to go after charly (i guess she thought he was going after me, i don't know) and i still have to lead the blind wiener dog in, hoping that charly won't attack either of them... OR ME!!! well, by the time i got my GOOD dogs in the house and charly remaining outside, i was now so panic stricken & with my wash all over my yard, i didn't know how to calm my own self down!! well, with the power & love of God, i seem to pull it together enough to calm my coco and call DH at work. thankfully he has an reasonably understanding place of business and was able to come RIGHT home, arriving about 1 or 1:30 in the afternoon and took charly right down to the local NO KILL shelter. now, not really being quite over HAVING to find my Cinny another home, this had me CRAZY with hurt. coco is ok, has some scrapes and a pretty good gash above his eye but honestly i am amazed at how ok he is (and me too, for that matter!) now that all has been said and done, i HAVE to believe this was GOD's steel tip boot. Have you ever KNOWN you should do SOMETHING (whatever it was) and didn't move on it or act on it? well, we have felt charly needed another home, since before thanksgiving when he bit my cinnamon but we tried EVERYTHING else so we could keep him and now this happens! charly attacked coco no less than FIVE times before i could separate them and he seems completely fine!? simply confirms that it was GOD's intervention telling us it is NOW TIME to take charly there and if i know GOD and i think i do, i bet as soon as charly is available for adoption, there will be someone there looking JUST FOR that boy!!! he is truly a GREAT dog and i believe if we had him fixed that none of this would have happened but we just could not afford it nor could we, obviously, afford to wait either. i have been a bit shaken up through it all, not only cause i love my babies and don't believe in 'disposable pets' but yesterday i was soo stiff and sore from all the activity! even found a good sized bruise on my knee but for charly to not go into a crazy fit and bite everything and all of us just makes my faith that much stronger! yea, it hurts, and i don't always have to understand the whys behind His way but i am satisfied in the knowledge of doing the right thing.
i sure hope this makes some sense lol i know i am still a bit out of sorts because of it all.
ok with all that said, i do have another freebie :)
without any further ado, i share Dark Moods finally

Mardi Gras Blog Parade & Freebie!

WOOHOOOO! Welcome to the next stop on the Mardi Gras Blog Parade!!!
The tradition of throwing trinkets during the parade began in the early 1870’s by the Twelfth Night Revelers. In 1884, the Krewe of Rex began throwing medallions which are now called doubloons. The beads that were once thrown were made of glass, but alas are now plastic. Other throws you may see include stuffed animals, plastic toys, Frisbees and plastic cups. Please note should you ever go to a Mardi Gras parade and a throw comes your way and lands on the ground, don’t reach for it. The tradition is to put one’s foot one the prize and judging by by the quickness of some, you would think it was a $100.00 bill.

Another interesting throw is from the Zulu Social Aid and Pleasure Club the oldest African American Krewe. It is their tradition to paint coconuts gold. Although at one time these were thrown, due to insurance issues they are handed out in a plastic bag, however they are still highly coveted.

To celebrate I have made a fun FREEBIE for you!
