Happy Halloween!

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! BWAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK!!! SCREEEEEEEEEEEEEECH!
Since I didn't have the sound effects, I thought I would make do through type LOL Hope it wasn't TOOO scary for ya! hehe
Well, today is the big day! I sure use to look forward to this day, even as recent as just a year or so ago! lol Oh the decorating can be soo much fun! We have cut back on that since having so many animals but I hope you are going to have a SPOOKTACULAR day! Please be safe tonite, as you drive, with so many scary little ones out there.

Do you dress up to answer the door? Do you go to events such as hayrides or parties? Do your neighbors BOO you? lol I would LOVE to know how you celebrate Halloween in your area, or even if you do at all?
When I was a kid, our parents or older siblings would pass out candy at home with a few decorations on the porch and they NEVER dressed to pass the candy out, as us younger kids would go door to door amassing our goodies!! Such a different time it was then, soo safe and innocent! We went to barn parties all decorated with hay bales and pumpkins with hayrides and bonfires!! OHHH the memories! :D And then we would come home so tired and weary from trying to hit ALL the nearby neighborhoods as well and after returning back home we'd empty our bag on the table for 'inspection' LOL Back in those days, I really think there was little need for such close examination so once in a while I would catch Mom or Dad popping something in their mouth! "HEYYYY what's that you're eating??" lol But there was certainly ALWAYS more than enough to share! Then as my kids grew, an adult would have to take the kids around the neighborhood and the inspections of candy became more real and taken TONS more serious. Sometimes, I would have a friend take my boys out so I could dress up and pass out the candy! hehe
So I am curious to how does your Halloween go? :D

Fun layout!

I hope you had a FUN weekend! Saturday, we dressed in our costumes to meet some new friends and later, go to a party. I got my whole costume from the swapmeet at various time and it was so much fun putting it together lol The jacket is black leather & lace across the back and the boots (not shown here) were fuzzy at parts. lol John's costume is one my DS bought and is going to wear on Wednesday, to work lol But the fun was finding the gun at the swapmeet the same day we wore our outfits! LOL AND we got, along with the gun, a lady pirate costume but i was already committed to this look, THIS year hehe here's a layout I made:

The friends we met were Robbi1 from here online and her DH!!! OH MY GOODNESS! I had soo much fun and too little time!!! And thank you again, Robbi for the gift! I LOVE it! We really had soo much FUN and I am soo glad the guys had so much to share too! Here's one of the GREAT picture our DHs took:

Today is another grayish kind of day because of the smoke from the fires south of us. This is since Thursday now that it's been daylight but not much sun shining thru the smoke but at least its more of a white than black smoke, meaning they ARE getting the fires out. I think they are down to 6 active ones, from the 12 they started with. How awful, so many have lost everything! Thankfully we are safe from these, one last year was close enough for me! We had ash and voluntary evacuation from that one, for days, it was awful! The ones going on today are not close enough for even the ash, THANKFULLY! Here's a pic of what our moon looks like when it makes an appears thru the smoke:

Charity Kit for Chelsea

I am participating in a charity kit for a little girl, Chelsea, who has Down Syndrome and has been diagnosed with leukemia. This is her picture

isn't she just too cute!?! Jeanette at Moo Two Designs is organizing it. Here is what she says:

"Hello everyone!!! So here is the situation:

You may or may not know that I am a contributing author to a book about life as a mother of a child with Down Syndrome. It is a collection of stories from over 50 Moms, and it is a really amazing book!
Anyways, one of the little girls that is featured in the book is one and a half year old Chelsea! This sweet little girl has just been diagnosed with Acute Myelogenous Leukemia! For those who don't know, this requires many, many chemotherapy treatments and an extremely long stay in the hospital. Chelsea has been in treatment for about a month now, and is such a trooper!!
As you can well imagine, this experience is a very expensive one, both emotionally and financially for the family. Chelsea has an older brother that she can rarely see for fear of Chelsea catching a virus, because she has no immune system due to the chemo. Her mother Cary has been staying with Chelsea most of the time, occasionally getting some sleep at the local Ronald McDonald House.
What I would like to do is create a beautiful collaboration kit and send the proceeds directly to the family. My thought is that it could at least help with meals, transportation, what have you.
I am so excited to have to opportuntiy to help this family. Us Moms that contributed to the book (which is called Gifts: Mothers Reflect on How Children with Down Syndrome Enrich Their Lives) are quite close, so this is hitting quite close to home, especially since children with Down Syndrome are prone to developing Leukemia. I know that if Carter were ever sick like this that I would appreciate any and all help, so lets help this family!!!

Added a doghouse & car update

I added a doghouse to the Pomeranian kit, i hope you like it!

As for our car, DH got home from work and it took only about a minute to realize it was a connection to the battery lol so tomorrow he will buy new connector ends for it. sheesh!
Enough for now, it's getting late and time to retire for the day! (ahh) Have a WONDERFUL night! :D

Car update

Well, yesterday DH took half a day off to buy a new starter and change it but still did not get home til about 5pm (sigh) He said it seemed to fix the problem but then this morning DH & DS get in to head off to work and NOTHING!! So off they went in the Subaru and hopefully DH will take off tomorrow to see what THIS trouble is now! He thinks it must be SOME connection SOMEWHERE now!! oh my goodness, this GREAT car is turning out to be a nightmare! And it's the one we need out HERE!!! (SIGH) Sure don't need car trouble ANYTIME but certainly NOT as we head into the cold season!! lol
As for our feathered friend (roadrunner) I threw some raw ground beef out early yesterday morning and by noon it was gone, so i am hoping this is the roadrunner eating this but it could be a coyote or anything since I wasn't scoping the area to see. So i threw some more out this morning again.... we shall see :D Maybe i can check for tracks hehe
Well, i am off to enjoy some blog hopping since my pet crew FINALLY settled in, from 7am!! lol oh those crazy playful pups!

Isn't life a rollercoaster?

lol Such highs and lows. Yesterday, exactly ONE WEEK after our trip to the spa, DH gets stranded by our Ford after work!!! First day back for DS too AND he was scheduled to leave work an hour earlier than usual!!! They didn't get a ride home til 7:30 pm instead of 4:30 (sigh) Yea, now it seems to be the starter! So they took the Subaru to work and DH took off 1/2 a day to HOPEFULLY get this fixed! Then we gotta worry about getting these cars HOME again! SHEEESH!
And our friend the roadrunner, well, it was out there the very next morning but when i took the dogs out, Charly chased it off and i haven't seen it since (SIGH)
And the winds out here are just incredible! about 40-45 mph and gusts about 60!! it's crazy! There was a terrible accident down near L.A. due to the sand storm the winds created. It's not going to stop till Wednesday too (SSIIGGHH!) lol Time to get the plastic on the windows! Those winds are pretty cold!
So how is your day going? lol i did find a 'add on' (it's huge though lol) to the Halloween Night kit at Newlife's Dreams. I hope you enjoy it as much as i do :D

Spend time with a roadrunner!

This weekend was not only too quick lol but was quite amazing! i will just share the BEST part here which was spending time with this AWESOME desert bird!!
DH & i were outside transplanting bamboo when we noticed this curious little fellow inching up to us. It didn't even seem alarmed when we stood, stooped, walked away or back where we worked! It was truly amazing! Now, of course we have heard stories of such things but this was our first!! Turned out the bird just hung around, if we were in this part of the yard or that, it was nearby! We had ground beef on hand and fed it small amounts and knew we had a friend lol heck we even came in for about an hour and went back out only to see it pop back into view! Here are some pictures we took:

Who could ask for more?

Yesterday i turned another year wiser hehe and what a FANTASTIC day!!! the weather was perfect at home AND in Desert Hot Springs where DH took me to the Hotel Spa for the day!! it was only $3.00 per person to use 8 mineral hot spring pools, a sauna AND use of the olympic sized pool too! DH LOVED that!! lol i, of course, LOVED the hot springs!! Here's a couple of pictures from it:


As you can see on a tuesday, it's not too crowded to enjoy either!! it was HEAVEN!!!
DH says we ought to be able to do that at least once a month and the next time we go, we want to do the massage and maybe get a room for overnight!

All i know is, it was only about an hour!!! Close enough to enjoy all the time!! lol
Later, after we got home, DS & DH took me to the Rib Co. for dinner! YUMMMMMMMMMM!!! and the staff came out with this HUGE brownie sundae, with a candle AND singing to me!!! TEARS started to flow! lol i was soo embarrassingly happy lol Truly the BEST birthday i ever had! Then after dinner we got home and my older DS called from NY to say Happy Birthday mom!! How WONDERFUL is that!?! :D i LOVE my family! Thank you :D
Today's weather here seems comparable to yesterday's and just as warm!! So today i do wash LOL one day a princess and the next day back to work!! ohhhhh how we look forward to retirement days LOL ahhh just kidding around! at least now we know about this place AND we are going to check out others too!! If this one was the bottom of the barrel with pricing at $3.00 days ( 8am - 10pm) then the other spas (more expensive) could be the most incredible places on earth LOL this place was soo beautiful and calming it's hard to believe the others could be any better at all! will be interesting to see one day. ;)

Crazy weekend!

How was your weekend? Our friday was extremely windy and cold, i doubt it reached the 60's here but couldn't tell you for sure, just know it was COLD lol
Saturday Cinnamon graduated from her series of puppy shots! hard to believe how fast they grow! lol She is a little more than 3 1/2 lbs. now. lol The sweetie! Then saturday nite one neighbor comes over to see if we heard the accident, which we hadn't! Turns out that some kids were flying down the dirt road on a quad and ran into one of the other neighbors dogs and flew out of the vehicle and killed the dog! was a good sized (medium-large) dog. Real shame for the dog, since that family moved into their place (with a wONDERFUL 8' fence all around the lot) they have never closed their gates and have been leaving their THREE dogs run all over! AND it was after dusk so it was quite dark out there at the time! i don't even know if the kids had lights on the vehicle, we saw nor heard a thing, til the one neighbor came over! Strange!!
Sunday's weather was much nicer but still the air is soo cool and when that wind picks up, it blows right thru me!! We went to church for the first time in over a year. It was very different from the last time she gave sermon cause before it was mostly a spiritual thing but this time was more on the Luthern side since she kind of teamed up with another Reverend.
Got company now,visting for my birthday WOOHOOO! which is tomorrow! will be back later! HUGS
ok am back about 2hrs later lol What fun! Don't ya love when people care about your birthday? How nice is that?
i have been working out my last of Year of Seasons, Winter! That will be ready to share later this week! hehe i sure hope you like it but for now i am really getting hungry, haven't had breakfast yet and now it's almost noon lol

Ahh!

Time the animals all settled in and time enough for another late post! hehe :D
i have been so frustrated with my internet provider that DH will be on the phone with them yet again! (sigh)
Have you all checked out this Halloween kit at Peggy's ? i think it is so FANTASTIC and can hardly wait til i have it all downloaded!! You see, with MY provider, i am suppose to be able to download over 300 megs, but when i get over 100 megs, my internet speeds starts dropping and then if i push it and download even more, than we have worse than dial up speeds!! Can you believe that? Better yet, can you believe i can find EASILY 300 megs or better out there AND ALL FREEBIES!!! LOL SOOOOOOOOOO i sit on my hands sometimes so i don't blog hop & browse at all the stuff i can't get! (harumph!!)
It has NOT been easy this year with this satelite internet but at least i have been able to get TONS of stuff that i really would not have gotten with the dial up we had before. Soooo that's the good news i suppose :) Always look for that silver lining hehe
Well, we know the company will YET AGAIN tell us that it's like a bucket with a hole in it and doesn't empty as fast as i can download. So i am not sure how they can help me without yet ANOTHER upgrade but since this one didn't seem to help much, i am not sure we will go that route! We shall see. :D
Where is our Oktoberfest??? i NEED a drink! lol just kidding :D
