not real sure

the paper comes out twice a week around here and we got the paper both times last week but never saw anything about what happened. lol it figures lol but i would have to believe it was drugs, just that i never saw a lot of traffic going in and out of there so i really don't know! i do know that this weekend they were out front of their place, loud and blowing off firecrackers the other night! CRAZY! i was glad when i heard somehting about the LAST ONE! lol i worry about ambers or hot ashes starting a fire out here! guess i am the only one who worries about that! lol
the weather here has been crazy too. heard the weather guy say it's been acting like the stock market! lol but it has been very chilly one day and then 80 the next! the mornings are chilly but the day usually warms up nicely!
i have been still doing a lot of reading! Finished Gracie a Love Story by George Burns and it was soo good! Almost done with All My Best Friends by George Burns and it is BETTER than Gracie! lol It seems, when i go to read a small paragraph to DH i wind up reading him PAGES! lol it is full of WONDERFUL stories about George and his best friends (some being, Marx Brothers, Jack Benny, Al Jolson).
Almost done with Hard Candy, A True Story by Charles A. Carroll too!
This is about a boy and his brother put into the system's institutions simply because no one cared! Heart wrenching! One of the stories shared in this book is a footnote mentioning another book titled The State Boys Rebellion by Michael D'Antonio which tells a similiar story of a boy and his life. In the institute this boy was in, it says, this boy and others were, without their knowledge, given radioactive oatmeal as part of an experiment conducted by MIT and Quaker Oats! sounds to me like that may be the next book i read!!!

Excitement in the neighborhood

Last night DH and i went outside with the dogs and saw some kind of commotion going on at the neighbor's. soon we realized there was 3 cop cars and 2 personal or maybe unmarked cars (one was a van but a cop clearly drove it!!) And some of them wearing flap jackets or bulletproof vests!!?!! how strange!! the 5 cars are all parked like they came here quickly but we sure didn't hear sirens! i checked all night, well, up till 1:30 am and they were still there!!! i could, at times, see someone checking around the back of their place with a flashlight but i still cannot imagine what was going on over there but it was beginning to scare me! what could they be looking for in the dark? and to stay out there so long (at least 6 hours that i saw) oh well, hopefully it will be in the paper cause we sure weren't going to go over and ask. lol wonder how late they stayed there?! how strange...
oh well, on a lighter note, here is a picture of my precious stones and gem display, AFTER the Gem & Mineral show.

it is really filling up! lol but most of them we got from the swapmeet! it is pretty hard to take a picture unless i get a stepladder! lol what a hobby, huh? lol ROCKS! lol oh but i am soooooooo looking forward to going to the next Rock club meeting!! i hope we actually join so we can go out with them when they go mining!! so much to learn, it is almost overwhelming. So many rocks come in different colors not making it easy to id them. SO MUCH FUN though! lol And the best part of THAT hobby is NO DOWNLOADING troubles!!! lol oh this internet provider is getting so very frustrating to deal with!
guess we will save that venting session for another day's post! lol For now, i am off to see your blogs! :D

Was me!

Yesterday was my birthday and DH took the day off. it was so nice to spend time together! Went to breakfast, a really good yard sale (lol) and a bookstore. On top of the birthday money i got for the gem show, i also got a CD from my DS and a DVD from DH! Then they took me out to dinner too! talk about spoiled! lol
today the winds are blowing, cool and harsh! ugh! lol For now, i am off to your blogs and visit with you! Have a WONDERFUL day! :D

Hard to believe it's been another week!

i apologize for not being here all week, but what a week it was! We had ANTS in the house three different times last week! Once in the kitchen, once on my counter and once in the closet!! IN THE CLOSET OF ALL PLACES!! lol There's no food there!! i guess they must be getting desperate! i sure cannot imagine what they could find out there in the desert to eat!
i have still been having troubles with this internet (which is the real reason for my absence) it gets so frustrating with this download limit and if, for some reason it goes over the limit, then i pretty much get locked out and cannot do anything on this computer! {sigh} and that, of course, happened too last week! and since i keep track of all my downloads, i knew i didn't go over, so we had to yet again, try and figure out why it happened! how frustrating! but i did find out that if i stay up late, i can download all i want between midnight and 3am!!!! so that is what i did on saturday night!! lol
oh well, i hope your week was better!
This weekend, DH took me to a Gem and Mineral show, boy did i have fun there!! lol i found out that i have been doing pretty good with identifying my stones too! After we picked up DS from work on Saturday and told him of it, he gave me some early birthday money and DH and i went back on Sunday! OH and of course, i took my camera on Saturday (usually have it with me) and left it at home on Sunday (as i used my BIG purse with a magnetic closure and didn't want to mess up the camera) and of course, that's when they had cowboys and cowgirls on horseback and a western show too!! lol Timing is EVERYTHING! lol But i did manage to get quite a few more stones and gems for my collection! Display box is NOW getting full! lol We want to join the club, where they meet locally once a month! i think it would be soo helpful and it isn't expensive either! i think it's like $20. a year or $30 per couple. i will keep ya posted for sure when we do join!
