HI! i thought i would blog about our weather lately. It's been crazy with winds!!
Friday we had high winds with gusts up to 90 mph!! Saturday and Sunday were not too bad, nice & sunny, light breezes. But Monday, Tuesday and today have been crazy winds again!!
Nothing like Friday, thank goodness but still we could use a break! Last night,
the power kept threatening to go out yet again, ALL night long! it would flick the lights but they, lucky for us, stayed on!!
Hopefully they will settle down for a FEW days! i don't think Chicago (the WINDY city) was THIS bad! :) Seriously, this desert living can truly be harsh!
That's really the worse we put up with besides the heat, earthquakes, mudslides, wildfires, & Marines bombings out back, i mean! LOL
Sunday, we should have been in town a bit more and we might have run into
Martha Stewart !!!
YEP, she stopped in to shop one of our antique stores! The store owner told her (not realizing who she was) that she doesn't open til 10. Martha was quiet for awhile and then simply said "I'm Martha" ! lol The woman said though she doesn't have a tv, that she enjoyed Martha's magazines and opened up 40 minutes EARLY!! LOL
She bought a pottery chicken waterer for her chickens, i am sure among other things since they shopped for about an hour! The local newspaper also reported that this may air in the fall since she had a camera crew with her. Cool, huh? :)
Martha had been staying in Palm Springs and went to a Palm Sunday sunrise thing at the
Joshua Tree National Park that morning. She was reported as saying that this particular shop was her "favorite antique store"!! :)
i understand quite a few stars come in and visit this area. i have heard that
Robert Plant (from original Led Zepplin band) sings locally quite often! and DH's boss owns a coffee cafe type place downtown and has stars come entertain there all the time! DH and i always say we should go, it really sounds like a good time but sometimes just the trip down the mountain is enough GOING, i think we dread the thought of coming home tired and driving that mountain. :) must be getting old!! i heard someone say, out there! hehe :)
When we first moved here, DH was downtown getting groceries, after work and ran into
Dick Dale and his son! He was so excited when he got home, his face was all lit up! :)
Heck, stars can be ANYWHERE near you too! when we lived near Chicago, both my sons were living with us, cause my older boy had just gotten out of the service. long story short, they walked to a local hamburger stand and came home all giddy about the girl they thought was Britney Spears! :) it can be FUN spotting them but so far, we haven't gone out of our way to do so!
How about you? have you ever met a celebrity? who was it!? i would LOVE to hear your stories!
:) Thank you so very much for visiting, HUGS!! Have an AWESOME evening! :)
