Clothing deals & a layout

I'm back! :) i did get some pictures of the skirts but now realize i need more SKIRT hangers! lol The next few items are what i bought for a dollar and had wrapped in the tissue paper, not usually done at the swapmeet! LOL
This maxi (is that word still used?) soo light and summery straight skirt, with a zipper in the back.

This little summer pull on.
Photobucket
This little summer sweater was a bonus with a summer shirt underneath!! and YES for a buck!! Unheard of, i know!!
Photobucket

THEN i got a few skirts (and one dress) from the couple that Cinnamon (pomeranian dog) went to live with, since they still owe money for her, we took this off the bill.

And then before we left the swapmeet on Sunday (which we never stay long, there are hardly any vendors on Sundays, mostly just the regulars) the same lady came up asking if i want these denim skirts... three colors, all mid length.

Oh and before i forget, here are the leopard shades for just 50 cents!
Photobucket
i have more dresses & tops that i've bought over the years from the swapmeet. i don't usually look thru piles or boxes of clothes, but do like checking out things on a rack or table, and ONLY buy when it's a deal! :)
i was also asked to share a photo of my front yard anchor. Yes, you heard me! lol we have an anchor in our desert yard! it was here when we moved in and the neighbor told us he remembers when someone tried to hook it up to their car and take it, dragging behind them!! lol needless to say, they didn't get very far as it dug its way deep into the sand!!! lol somehow they got it back off the road
and into the yard. And so there it sits!
Photobucket
Photobucket
Now we ALMOST had a swell deal with getting a beat up boat with holes and setting it by the anchor, i thought would have looked so cool, but that never yet came to fruition! hard to even THINK about BUYING a boat to put there! lol But it sure would look CUTE with a boat, holes and all!! it would look shipwrecked maybe, well that was my idea anyway! lol i think i have to someday see if the boat is still there, cause i know the property was sold and the boat never made it here before that happened. But there is a real good possibility that its still there! lol
heck, out here in the desert, there is ALWAYS hope for another beat up canoe or something.
there are SOOOOOOOOOOOO many properties with old cars, trailers, trucks, boats, just about anything you can think of! lol
Well, i have rambled on enough now, i have to get this posted so DS can WOW again! i am getting the look! LOL Big HUGS to you and thank you so much for visiting!! You know i will see YOU in the morning!! :)
leaving you with another layout i got done!! i am determined to play with all the AWESOME wordart & kits that i get from so many AWESOME designers out there!!

Another day in paradise!

Hi again! :) i had to wait quite awhile for use of the computer today! my DS plays World of Warcraft (what the kids call WOW) all day when he is off work! Then i also share the computer with my sweet DH too! Even though we have two computers, i think we need THREE! LOL Anyways, this weekend we didn't get too many bargains and it was a nice weekend too! it's such a weird & WONDERFUL place, that swapmeet, one never knows just what will be there! :)
like this AWESOME glass dish:

and this $2.00 necklace:

here is a more close up shot of it... it is AMAZINGLY light too!
Photobucket
and what weekend is complete, without a NEW book!?! lol
book for a dollar
OH and we bought these gel pens for $5. What a DEAL!!!
Photobucket
This weekend there were TWO vendors with puppies. these lab mixes were just $10.each. (there was a sign with the price, i didn't ask!! if i ask, i buy! lol)
Photobucket
And these SWEETIES, i have no idea if they were free or not. the one that is looking into the camera was almost IRRESISTABLE!!! i would talk to them and that one responded soo quickly, it was sooooo touching my heart!
Photobucket
Then today, we saw a NEW vendor (WOOHOO!! NEW STUFF! lol) and mostly got skirts, for a buck each. i will take pictures of them tomorrow, after washing! :) oh and i bought new sunglasses too! LOL i saw these leopard print ones that i laughed at first at, and then tried them on and LOVED them! LOL somehow the print isn't as obvious when on, go figure! :) they were only FIFTY cents too!
what a BARGAIN! and then for the first time, a vendor wrapped my clothes in tissue paper and gave me this WONDERFUL bag with handles! i felt like i had just shopped at Bloomingdale's! lol it really was nice!!
We did talk with the gemstone vendor today, he told us last weekend that he wanted to see what we got from Opal Mtn., so we showed him a sample of banded agate and this opal stone:

And in return he showed us this BEAUTY that he made:

Photobucket
i kinda got the feeling that he wanted to make a joke about what we found until he saw that stone... it was funny, he got kinda serious and told us "Remember the feeling you got when you first found this? you will feel that AGAIN, if you have something like this polished!"
He obviously saw some kind of fire in that opal sample! YAY!! lol
oh and then today, we found THREE more books at a buck each! LOL we got to learn to stay AWAY from the bookman! LOL but for a dollar each, who can go wrong!? AND i got a scrappers book too!!
Photobucket
Then we ended our morning with a trip to Home Depot to check out the plants. my DH didn't see the dahlias that he had hoped, but did see these Kalanchoes and bought one for me! :)
just look at those succulent leaves!
Photobucket
This weekend had pretty good winds up here on the mountain, but not so much downtown. it was sunny warm but the winds still carry a cooler air with them but all in all it was a LOVELY weekend! i sure hope you had a TERRIFIC one too! Thank you so very much for your SWEET comments on my last post with my layout!! Keep 'em coming! lol i LOVE 'em!! :) Big HUGS!! Thank you so much for visiting! i hope you have a WONDERFUL evening and i will see you in the morning! Now, i return you to your show already in progress! :)

Treasures from Opal Mountain!

Good evening! i hope you had a WONDERFUL start to a new week! :) Well i am finally back with some Opal Mountain pictures! YAY!! oh my goodness, what a day! it was a hot day of at least 90 degrees and it turned into quite a LONG day! but what FUN too!! First we went to the local breakfast spot and had slow service, leaving us barely time to eat and still meet up with the club caravan, but we made it! this time there was 3 vehicles for a 2 hour drive.
We did see this active mine as we drove, i don't know what they mine but it was clearly active.
active mine
As we headed toward Vegas, i couldn't help remembering when we got married there and also, still can't get over how close we actually are to Vegas! Well, anyways, we get to the area and were surprised to find we had to drive down a rough, raw desert road, for TWENTY miles in!!
Opal Mtn
As we are going in on this one lane dirt & gravel path, we have to pull over FOUR different times as vehicles were leaving! DH & i supposed they were the miners with the active mine claims that are out there! very COOL to think that they get there maybe 6 or 7 (or EARLIER!) in the morning and be ready to leave by 10 am! Now i am REALLY GEARED for this! LOL then we see the president of the club (who was leading this caravan in) stop and take a photo. we figured she was just getting a nice shot of the mountain (like this one i took)
Opal Mountain
until we get driving again and WE get up to where she had stopped and see a snake!! ARGGGGHHHHHH!!
and it was ALIVE!!! AGGGGHHHHHH!!!! now it was ONLY a golpher snake (harmless) but STILL, it didn't make me feel welcomed! lol
well, as we press on the TWENTY miles in and finally get there, i am ready, i think! lol The president shows us sample specimens of what we are to look for and we begin!! the hunt is on!! lol
Here is my DH searching for opal. Keeping in mind that it is MOSTLY common opal and not the precious gems, we are told that it's possible to find the precious (more valuable) stuff there!!
John searching
All in all, we stopped three times around that mountain and searched for opal, agate, jasper & rhyolite. it was tiring as it got hotter but so much FUN!
At the second stop, i asked about these blackened rocks and was told they are volcanic!!
volcanic rocks
Here are some samples of what we found! some rocks with opal layering, like this:

Orange opal

purple rhyolite

banded agate

(not so) clear & milky opals

red opal (which i understand is more rare)

yellow opal

milky white opal
creamy white opal
and this drusy (small glittery crystals)

i am not sure if this is opal or not but it really caught my eye!
Photobucket
that is just some of the FUN things we found yesterday!! i can share more through the week, if you like! :) oh and the day was NOT without its glitches, of course! i went to put the camera in the car or get it from the car and tried to open DH's door and the handle broke on it!! lol it just stopped working!!
now it can only be opened FROM the inside handle!! isn't that GREAT!?! LOL and then just before we headed off, i had my glasses on and sunglasses off so i could see better without glare and i had my sunglasses on the middle counsel. DH comes in, puts his elbow down right where my sunglasses were and KRUNCH! one arm flattens and pops right off! lol oh well, i sure got my money's worth with those!!! i had them for the better part of twenty years!! LOL Do you think it's time for a change!!!?! lol me too! :)
we got back almost 12 hours later and were soo exhausted, we went to a local sandwich shop (where we had breakfast) and had a quick dinner, took a burger home for DS and just crashed!!
i am not sure we will go back with our vehicle but really LOVED the hunt for opal!
