DH & i were at the doctor yesterday, basically for our regular check ups (every 3 months) but i asked about my back muscle and glad i did! She explained how when i injured it, something called lactet (spelling) acid is released and does so every time it spasms. This acid having no place to go just settles around the muscle and what i need (besides a good muscle relaxant) is for DH to apply thumb pressure as deep as i can take it and then a nice soft massage! Well, she did write me a perscription for some pill that the pharmacy said was not covered on my insurance (sigh)it's been since the second week of JUNE since the initial injury, so i guess i can wait another day or two til they figure out what they are doing. the doctor just put her hands on my back and felt it bulging out and said "Oh yes i can feel it's all tight still" YEA, it's tight, bulging and PAINFUL! LOL but i will wait for meds!
i also had her check out my arm from last week's blood test and explained that the lady that took my blood had to give me some kind of speech explaining how she is new and would i mind if she took the blood, me thinking, everyone needs to start somewhere, let her take my blood. i was well hydrated and have good veins and thought that she did really good, didn't even feel the needle prick. but one thing, for when you get blood taken, watch them, make sure they take the tournaquet off BEFORE they take out that needle!!! and if you can, make sure they take it out without pulling on your vein too (they could slice the vein)! but for me, we think it was the tournaquet coming off a second or two too late. what happened was that my vein kept bleeding under the skin and not outside the skin, like normally. i am still sporting what looks like a huge blood blister with a puffed out vein. Dr. looked at it and explained all that but added that it didn't look like there would be any long term affects, thank God!! i don't think i will be allowing newbie at my veins again, real soon, though lol
and i have been losing weight like crazy and don't think it's just the heat, so i expressed my concerns. all i was told at this point was to start drinking Carnation instant breakfasts again...adding that it won't happen overnight but should work. we shall see!
Otherwise, things around here are just plain HOT!!! i did finally manage to get in the pool. i was oh sooo very careful, didn't want to tweak my back the wrong way, so i got onto a big ol' floatie and just relaxed! lol ok i know, that i didn't really get any swimming done, but i did finally GET in the pool! LOL
i wanted to thank you all so very much for your emails and comments! it's so nice to know that you care! as tough as it is to still sit at the computer for too long, i use my time in visiting your blogs, instead of updating mine lol but i just had to let you know what was going on.

SO glad you're getting yourself looked after, Shirley. I know how much a back can throw your world askew!
You TAKE CARE of yourself, hay?
I am looking forward to seeing what you come up with.
I'm thinking of you!
PS - you know you should go to youtube.com and search out sciatica videos, there are some WAY good informational videos, even with massage techniques for husby to give you!
hugs,
Barb
I am sure glad you updated your blog, I was gettin ready to email soon! Glad you stopped by my blog or I would have really worried. Not like you not to be in the pool sooner than now!
I sure hope the massage therapy works - it should! I know what ya mean about the Rx - Im dealing with that now - New Ins and no Rx -Have to research and get the generic and have the doc write the rx for what the pharmacy carries to get at the reasonable cost. Mike turns 65 on the 2nd so he goes on Medicare, but doesnt take any rx's,just me and Im on my own now - Not worth paying 60 a month when the rx can cost only 12.95 for 3 months....so will go that way for now.
Well sweetie, you get some weight on - when I saw you last you were tooo thin! Try some Ensure too, its not bad and about like the Carnation Inst Breakfast but has more vitamins I think.
Big hugs and speedy recoup...Im still battling this cracked/bruised rib - just doesnt want to go away - I go to docs tomorrow :) Hugs and Hi to John too!

Good Morning:)
Just stopped in to see what is new.Soooo sorry your back is still giving you trouble.:( OWWW!! It must be very painful.I get knots in my back and they aren't buldging but hurt like crazy.I can't imagine how yours must hurt.:( Do you know someone who has a spa? Dh and I bought one when I was working..because we have back problems and I have pain in my ankle all the time.It helps a lot..even if it only stops hurting for the twenty minutes I am in it.LOL The jets pulsating onto your knot might help to relax it.Just a thought:)
Take care!!
Hugs,
Valinda
